Richard started his IT career as a software engineer working on projects from design automation tools to internet content delivery. He is a contributor to several open-source projects including Webkit and Qt. He moved into security over 20 years ago and worked as CTO of a vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and consulting company which served large financial institutions and global retailers. Following their acquisition by Capita, he moved to MWR (now WithSecure) where he led projects to help large financial institutions improve their secure development lifecycle and measure the effectiveness of their security spend.

Richard is currently CISO at 10x Banking, a UK fintech that provides a SaaS banking platform used by banks in the UK, Australia and Africa. In his time at 10x has been responsible for developing their security processes and managing the secure design, threat modelling, vulnerability management and penetration testing teams.
